Choosing a used laptop for university in the UAE
A good used laptop can see a student through a full degree for a fraction of the price of a new one. Here is what matters most.
Memory (RAM)
8GB is enough for writing, research, video calls and light photo editing. Choose 16GB if you study design, engineering or computer science, or keep many apps open.
Storage
256GB works if you use cloud storage for files. 512GB is more comfortable for most students and essential for large design or video projects.
Battery and weight
You will carry it every day, so a laptop under 1.5 kg with good battery health makes a real difference. Look for 85% battery health or more.
Which type?
- Thin and light laptops such as the MacBook Air or Dell XPS for everyday study and long battery life.
- Business laptops such as ThinkPad and Latitude for durability and great keyboards at lower prices.
- A 2-in-1 with a touchscreen if you like to take handwritten notes.
Budget
Many reliable business laptops start under AED 1,500, while recent MacBook Air models usually cost more. Use the student filter in our shop to see options that fit.
